Fr. Darius Lawrence, LC and Fr. Nils Schäfer, LC, both students in the Philosophy Faculty of the Pontifical Athenaeum, thanks to the generosity of our benefactors to the Sacred Heart Scholarship, had the opportunity to participate in the international In Altum program in Washington D.C. Each year, this conference invites Catholic students and young professionals from around the world to exchange ideas on current issues for a week with experts and network with influential institutions. The mission is to bring together university students and young professionals to discuss how the values of the Catholic intellectual tradition and its social teaching can be applied in building civil society and contribute to the public debate with a multidisciplinary approach. Thus it seeks to build an international community of leaders who together pursue truth and wisdom, presenting the teachings of the Catholic Church in complex social relationships and across public and private spheres of society.
"I mostly take away friendships with the other participants for my further journey. It was impressive to discover how each individual takes great social responsibility in their country and embraces faith in their professional career." - Fr. Nils, LC
